Where is Bowie?

Photobucket
Photobucket
oh there he is.

Excuse the terrible photo quality, and our homeless looking bedroom (we are moving soon, so why try right? It is my only excuse...) but its the only evidence I have captured thus far of Bowie's new 'hiding under the covers' thing. It is just THE BEST. For the past week or so he has been climbing under the blankets when we are in bed. SO CUTE, and SO RIDICULOUS. One of the many funny quarks we love about this boy. I am sure Adam is happy about all the dog hairs that are not only on top of our covers, but now under and INSIDE the covers! haha but it is just so cute! right!? Most of these quarks have started from his fear of the Dryer. Especially when the buzzer goes off. For some reason the sound just Faareakkkks him out, and he will go into our bedroom, or bathroom and literally push the door shut with his nose... and proceed to wallow in our laps and lately under our covers. He is the biggest weeny ever. The dryer? Really? LOVE HIM.

Here are just a few of the photos I managed to snap in Salt Lake of my brother TJ and new sister Katie Nokleby! They had an amazing film photographer shoot their wedding, Kristopher Orr. I am so excited to see what he caught! Be sure to check him out! By the way that cute little girl happens to be my one and only niece Addison Kate, and I love her.

I am honored and excited to be doing Alix's engagements and invitations. She is a friend I worked with at Color Me Mine for years. The many years we worked together we both told our dramatic boy stories... and I heard ALL about Kirk! Through it all! I am so glad they have finally decided to tie the knot. They are perfect for each other.
So, the day we scheduled the engagements, happend to be the stormiest day EVER! It had been great all month and Wednesday out of no where, Utah decided to start winter a month early. What else is new? We had the plans to hike up to some great aspen trees, and get some great fall shots, but the weather was not so hott. We all had the day off, which is a miracle... so, we decided to take advantage of our time and shoot a few rolls of film... where? Macey's grocery? why not!? When we were all done, we stopped by Kirk's new office to check out the renovation going on, and the weather cleared for a moment and we took a few shots just outside. The lighting could not have been more perfect.
More photos to come, and a second photoshoot as well, as soon as the weather permits it.

This is my babe Bowie. If you do not care to read a huge novel of how much I love my pup and our story, you might want to move on!
First B&W roll I have shot in a long time.
Kodak tmax 400. Any film photogs out there suggest a fave B&W brand they use?

SO, here I go. I adopted him August of 08' I think? I was going through some major changes and I felt that for whatever reason that day was THE day to go for it. My dad called me crazy, and I "forgot" to mention it with my room mate Natalie before stopping by the shelter randomly one day and coming home with this trip. The next day after I got him he was diagnosed with Parvo. If I had not gotten Bowie that day, the next day the pound would have put him down after discovering this (I had no idea he was sick when I adopted him). The vet told me he had a 50/50 chance of living, my heart was broken. A few days plugged into antibiotics away at the vet, he pulled through. He is the best irresponsible and spontaneous decision I have ever made. He was meant to be... timing was perfect for us both... we needed each other! (haha this is when Adam pukes). He is and was my greatest companion through my ruffest (get it ruff? yeah?) times. He had a few "issues" through the puppy years, but he has grown to be so obedient and great. It is always worth to get through those puppy years guys... I promise. PATIENCE! OKAY OKAY so MAYBE he still has one minor issue... that he has honestly submissively and over-excitably peed on everyone who has ever crossed his path.... but he is a pound pup guys! cut him some slack! I swear its a sign of admiration to all of you who have been a victim!

This is for you Dad and Natalie who love and understand Bowie, and love our pups as much as I do. The spirit and individual personality of each dog (and animals in general really) continue to amaze me, the comfort and friendship and undying love they provide us. This guy is ALWAYS happy to see me. It is just great. I love my dog, and every dog I have grown up with. In memory of Max and Jack... and our Rocky who is still with us. All so dear to my heart.

and yes, I AM the crazy dog lady. Think I care!?

Back in July I was able to visit my roots back in the Tacoma/U.P Washington area, while in town to help shoot a friend's wedding (photos soon to come). Don't you love those few friendships that no matter how much time and distance between, it always picks up right where it left off? Heck, I sure do.
I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with one of my dearest friends Ashley, her hubs Bucky, and their cutest baby boy Brody. Ashley is one of my most cherished friends to whom I did a lot of growing up with. We suffered through the hard years of high school, and she made the trek with me to Utah about 4 years ago. Lucky enough she met and married my brother's best friend Bucky Marsh, and they moved back home. You won't run into many people as genuine as this girl. She is one of the few who understand my strange quarks, such as fear of telephones, my panics of being left alone in awkward situations, and crying for no good reason! Oh yeah, Bucky is pretty fantastic too, although Brody takes the win overall. I mean LOOK at that face, those expressions kill me!
Man oh man there is no place like home. I could cry... YUP I sure could. There are not many things I love more than being in the Pacific North West... especially on a boat, on the puget sound, at sunset. I am so glad I had my camera around to capture a few awesome moments of these guys, and our boat ride. I loved this afternoon way too much. My heart aches to live here someday again with my hubs and Bowie. FOR GOOD. Sorry for the novel, I get sappy and passionate when it gets late.

shot with good ol' Kodak Portra 160 and 400
